How a Washing Machine Works

The machine takes water from a pipe. The water goes into the drum. The drum is the round part inside the machine. It turns again and again. The clothes move in the water. The soap helps remove dirt from the clothes.
Next, the machine lets the dirty water go out. Clean water comes in again. This water helps rinse the clothes. The machine turns the drum very fast. This takes extra water out of the clothes. The door stays closed during the wash. This helps keep water inside.
Some machines have short programs. Other programs take more time. A person chooses a program for the clothes. Light clothes can wash quickly. Very dirty clothes need more time.
When the program ends, the clothes are clean. They are not completely dry, but they are not very wet. A person can take them out and hang them up. After that, the machine is ready for the next wash. A washing machine saves time and hard work.
